Review | Zoya Naked Manicure Professional Starter Kit

Review | Zoya Naked Manicure Professional Starter Kit

Let’s talk nails, beauties. I guess I’m the odd girl, but I have never really been one to spend a fortune on professional manicures every week or two, much less acrylic nails unless it was a special occasion. I honestly don’t have the time or willingness to sit in a salon chair that long and often, just to end up with damaged nails underneath the surface. The problem is that I’m a business professional, and it’s my job to stand in front of a room of executives of a large Fortune 100 company and give presentations and lead my entire team to success. Rah! rah! rah! In other words, I can’t look like I just climbed out of bed and don’t take care of myself, waving around my unsightly cracked and peeling nails.

Then along came the Naked Manicure system! 🙌🏻 All hail to Zoya (parent company Art of Beauty), the queen bee company of the most beautiful polishes and the best formulation I have EVER personally used in my entire life. And this would be that perfect opportunity to remind you that I’m not sponsored, and I haven’t received anything free from Zoya with the intent of giving them a review. Aside from me being in their customer list, they don’t have a clue who I am.

I absolutely LOVE this system! I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I purchased it. There’s really nothing else like this on the market. This set has everything you need to turn damaged, unsightly nails into beautiful, professional…. yet natural-looking nails. If you are looking for a system filled with opaque colors that cover up your entire nail, this isn’t the kit for you. If you’re looking for something that can instantly take your nails from appearing damaged (whether it be from acrylics or just because they naturally are not strong and healthy), to an appearance that looks healthy, uncoiled, not cracked, not dis-colored….THIS is the solution you are looking for. The great thing is you don’t have to wear your nails “naked” all the time. The system is also perfect as a base foundation for colored polishes whenever you’re in the mood to paint your nails a color.

What do you get in the professional set?

My review will focus on the full professional starter kit. There are mini kits available to try and there is a smaller set for those who aren’t quite as interested in mixing up the different colors for your nail base, which is intended to color correct the natural nail base color, not provide an opaque splash of color. The full professional set includes full sized 0.5 oz bottles of the following:

  • 1 – Pink Perfector
  • 1 – Buff Perfector
  • 1 – Nude Perfector
  • 1 – Mauve Perfector
  • 1 – Lavender Perfector
  • 1 – White Tip Perfector
  • 1 – Naked Base
  • 1 – Satin Seal Topcoat
  • 1 – Glossy Seal Topcoat

Now, before you panic at the number of products in the set and think you have to use them all, fear no more! They are intended to pick and choose according to your individual needs, and mix and match according to the level of color correction you need and the type of finish you want (matte or glossy). You won’t need all of these. The average person probably won’t use all the different perfector shades, but they’re nice to have as your needs change. It’s also peffect for manicurists who work on multiple people every day, all of whom have different needs.

Components of the Kit and How You Use Them

The base is key and provides a perfect foundation to the entire system. I use this base with all of my other colored nail polishes, not just this set. It evens out the entire nail, smooths all the imperfections, and makes a drastic difference in the appearance all by itself. There’s a complete difference between what this base does compared to other bases on the market. This actually gives you a visible difference in appearance immediately.

Most of the other “colors” in this kit allow you to customize the look of your “naked” nail, evening out any color imperfections in your natural nail. The purple helps brighten the nail foundation. The other colors provide a range that allows you to have a pinky skintone (very natural) base to a neutral or nude background. It is NOT opaque, if that’s what you’re looking for. This is very natural looking, hence the term “naked nail.” The purpose of the kit is to give your nails a perfect, natural appearance.

The white tip provides just enough of a white color to make it look like you have a bright white tip, yet it’s still very natural and not completely opaque like a “French manicure” would be.

There are two top-coat options to choose from: a shiny top-coat and a matte-top coat for a more natural blended version. The matte top coat will give you a more natural nail finish, but you honestly can’t go wrong with either choice. It’s a personal preference.

Cost and Where to Purchase

You can purchase this set and many other beautiful options at,, or at many participating salons. The parent company is Art of Beauty.

The cost of the full-sized professional set may seem pricy until you realize how many full-sized products you’re receiving in it and understand how long they will last. Compare it to the cost of a set or two of acrylic nails, and then it doesn’t seem so expensive at all, since you can do this easily from the comfort of your own home. The full-sized Professional Naked Manicure Starter Kit is $96.

There are other options if you can’t spend that right away or just want to try it out. They make a Naked Manicure Mini Pro Kit with all the same prices but in a smaller size. It’s an amazing way to try out the entire system, and it will still provide several manicures for the smaller price tag. This option retails for $35.

There’s a 3rd option if you’re not interested in color correction of the nail bed color. This system still provides the basics to deliver excellent results. It’s the Women’s Starter Kit.  You will receive full size bottles of the following: Perfector base coat, satin seal top coat, white tip perfector, and the pink perfector. The cost of this kit is $30. You will not receive the other Perfector shades or the lavender Perfector, which is an Allure Award Winner! The lavender is worth adding to your cart.

*All prices are subject to change and are current as of the publication of this review

You can’t go wrong with this kit, even if your not a fan of painting your nails. I usually don’t like to wear colors on my nails, and this kit provides the perfect solution. It keeps me from needing damaging acrylic nails, hides my damaged nails, and provides a flawless natural look that we all wish we were born with. It is absolutely perfect for people who want to stop wearing acrylic nails but need something that will make their nails look amazing while the damaged part grows out.

Last but not least, Zoya has done a phenomenal job in providing education about this kit. It’s different than anything else on the market, so you can’t compare it to anything else. Because of that, there’s always a marketing challenge for a company like Zoya to overcome due to the education that’s required. It’s easy to use, but customers need to understand that it’s not supposed to look like a fake nail or a French manicure done with acrylics. Saying that. There is a wealth of information, even brochures and instructions you can download, from the Zoya website.

Oh, did I mention that this product was the winner of the 2015 Allure Best of Beauty Breakthrough Award Winning Product! Pretty awesome stuff, I must say

Hit or Miss? It’s a HIT!!!
