Review: Shiny Leaf Argan Oil Healthy Hair Shampoo

Review: Shiny Leaf Argan Oil Healthy Hair Shampoo

I haven’t reviewed a lot of bath & body products on my blog recently, but there’s a lot of products that I routinely use on a daily basis. One of the products that I’m a believer in is the use of Argan Oil in hair and bath products. It has so many benefits when used on the skin, hair, body, and even the nail cuticles. I am an “everything is dry” girl. My facial skin is always dry. My body skin is always dry. And my hair is always dry. I have very long, dry, often-times frizzy, damaged, color-treated hair, and I’m always slathering a ton of products on my hair to keep it in check. Even before testing the shampoo I’m reviewing now, I used another shampoo with argan oil and followed that up with at least 2 different argan oil serums after showering. If I don’t put oil into my hair, it looks absolutely horrible.

About the Brand

I was recently given the opportunity to test the Shiny Leaf Premium Argan Oil Healthy Hair Shampoo.  Shiny Leaf is a brand that was new to me before they reached out to ask if I would be interested in trying a sample of their shampoo. I want to reiterate for anyone new to my blog… I am 100% non-sponsored. I never ever accept payments for reviews, nor do I ever agree to review a product in return for a positive review. If you’ve read any of my past blog articles and reviews, you know that I am blatantly honest about every single product I’ve ever tried, good or bad. I was excited to try a new shampoo containing essential oils since my hair has been especially dry from the over-processing of chemicals recently.

Shiny Leaf is a beauty company that started out by selling a few key organic oils that are known to keep hair and skin healthy. They later introduced a variety of other products to their lineup such as shampoos and conditioners, incororating oils such as argan oil, tea tree oil, and even castor oil. They’re known for making effective, safe, affordable products for everyone.  The company proudly makes their products in the United States, and they are based in Las Vegas, Nevada. They offer free US shiping and provide a money-back guarantee for their products. As I dug further into researching this brand, I learned that they are a top-selling, top-rated brand on Amazon, with almost all of their products averaging a 5-star rating.

This brand does not test on animals!

I have more to say about this company but want to wait until I summarize my thoughts on the product first.

Product Information and Review

When I test out any new product, especially when it’s skincare or hair related, I always like to give it a solid 4-6 weeks of testing before providing my final thoughts, and this experience is no different. I truly did use this shampoo for several weeks. I only shampoo my hair every few days, to minimize the damage. I used to shampoo every single day because my roots would look oily if I didn’t, but I stopped doing this in recent years as I realized how much more damage I was causing by putting my hair through the continuous washing, detangling, drying, use of other hot tools, etc.

The Shiny Leaf Argan Oil shampoo contains a lot of great, healthy, natural ingredients such as: Shiny Leaf Shampooargan oil, sunflower seed oil, and aloe barbadenis leaf juice. It does have a small amount of frangrance, but it smells clean and fresh… definitely not overpowering. It comes in a 16 fluid ounce bottle, which will last for a while for most people (depending on your hair length). It’s available on their website for $12.79 (on sale).  They also make a cooresponding conditioner, which I did not test, for the same price. A bundle of both the shampoo and conditioner is available together for just $27.58. (all prices subject to change per the brand)

During my extensive test of this shampoo, I felt it was a very nice product that cleaned my hair nicely without stripping it dry.  On the flip side, I didn’t feel like this shampoo had a lot of “slip” to it that my other argan oil-based shampoo has. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as some people don’t like that slippery feel that leaves the hair overly hydrated. For my hair in particular, which had been recently color-treated again and slightly over-processed, the shampoo wasn’t enough alone to give my hair the moisture that it needed. However, when paired with another conditioner containing argan oil, I did come out with good results, especially after following my usual routine of applying some argan oil serum to my hair afterward. To be fair, I didn’t want to modify my usual routine of applying those other products because I would never expect a shampoo to singularly provide my hair with everything it needs, especially in its current condition.

Final Thoughts and Recommendation

Do I personlly recommend the Argan Oil Shampoo? It truly depends on your hair type and needs. If your hair is normal to slightly-dry, I think this shampoo would be a wonderful product for you to try. I believe it’s highly competitive with many other salon or drugstore products targeted to that hair type. If your hair is more on the damaged side like mine is and heavily processed, I would recommend adding in the conditioner with argan oil and also an argan oil serum afterwards. This brand actually sells a 1 oz bottle of pure aran oil for the hair and skin for just $10.24.

If you have different hair care concerns, check out their other product lineups such as the tea tree oil or castor oil line.

Earlier in the review, I mentioned there was something else about the brand that I wanted to mention upon closing out my thoughts. This is truly the thing that impressed me the most about this brand and convinced me that it is a brand worth my time, money, and effort to try more of (and I do plan to personally purchase and try additional products from this company).  When exchanging emails with the brand’s Marketing Head, I let her know that the shampoo alone wasn’t an exact match for my hair type without adding in some extra products such as a hydrating conditioner with argan oil and my own serums. I was impressed when she encouraged me to post my review, even though I perceived some of my feedback to be slightly negative, albeit it completely honest as always. This told me a lot about the character of the brand and the people behind it. In today’s world filled with companies who pay influencers/bloggers for positive posts and those who demand that people remove reviews perceived to be negative in any way, this brand basically said….  you know what? This product may not be perfect for your unique hair type and situation, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not going to be great for other people. So post that review!  Every single one of us are unique with different hair types and needs.  I was actually blown away! This is a company with morals and integrity. And that’s a company that I will stand behind and support.  Did this one product alone do everything that I wanted for me personally? No, but neither does any other one shampoo, realistically speaking. For my hair type in particular, it takes a combination of products to achieve the desired results I need. I’m going to give this company another shot and order their conditioner, in addition to their pure argan oil. I’ll revisit the brand again in the near future, so stay tuned!

One last thing to remember…. If argan oil isn’t your thing, Shiny Leaf also makes products with Tea Tree oil and Castor oil!
